A new chapter

There are a lot of rumors floating around lately, so I thought I clear things up. On the last day of April this year I got fired from my job with CMH, after 17 years of working for them. I've been told that the main reason was the lack of positive communication amongst the team which created an unhealthy and unsafe work environment. Although this was for sure unexpected and initially a shock for me, I try to put this chapter of my life behind and start a new one. I will always remember CMH as a great place to work for, meeting some of the most amazing people in my life, including my wife Kimby. On the other hand I will always be reminded on false friend ships, back stabbing and the surprising lack of peer support. No Light without shadows and as Thierry always used to say-no roses without thorns! Anyways, me and my family are looking forward to a new future, we are going to spend the next 3 months together in Austria, me partially guiding and catching up with family and friends. We'll return mid September to Canmore and then I have to start looking around for work, if anyone knows something, please let me know, any help is appreciated.Another reason I'm posting this is a CD I received in the mail a few days ago. It was full of images of one of my best weeks in the snow, heli assisted ski touring in the Adamants mid April. All the pictures are from my friend Topher Donahue, one of the best action photographers I've ever met, and they show me on my last days of work for CMH.

new route on Air Voyage wall - Lake Louise

There is a new route on Air Voyage wall at the Back of the Lake, it received it's first and second ascent today. The pictures below show Derek Galloway at the latter one. They say it's about 13+, a bit on the hard side for me but fun to watch anyways. The start is a few meters right of Jason Lives, with which it shares the last couple of bolts plus anchors- so technically a variation.
For those of you who like crimpy quartzite with tiny feet, this one is right up your alley.
And there is the ever cranking Tree on the ever classic "Dewline", atop a half frozen Lake. I got the kids plus camera with me today, and still got a few 5.11 burns in. Luka and Bella got to make a few moves too and we got a little taste of Summer in today, very much needed since it's supposed to rain the next three days.
